Chelsea will try and sign Pep Guardiola in the summer according to Sky Sports pundit and Spanish football specialist Guillem Balague.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is thought to be a huge fan of the former Barcelona manager, who has finally announced that he will be leaving Bayern Munich after just three years at the club. Compared to his achievements with Barcelona, Guardiola has been disappointing with the German outfit. This has led to speculation that much of his achievements were largely because he was able to enjoy players like Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta in the team.
Guardiola will be looking to prove this ideology wrong. His next move will be very critical in his career. There have already been suggestions that whatever is very keen on becoming a manager in the Premier League. The Spaniard is untested in the English league and he has previously struggled against English opposition. Manchester City are the favourites to secure him, as they believe that they have done enough to convince him. However, Chelsea are going to enter into the race with a blank cheque-book. Guardiola will be provided the freedom to completely overhaul the squad to his liking. He will also be convinced of stability, which he so desires, at Stamford Bridge.
"City are convinced they have done enough to get Pep Guardiola, but they have not signed anything.Roman Abramovich is aware of that and is trying to convince Pep by giving him a blank chequebook. The only thing that is clear is that his next job is in the Premier League. That's the only thing that nobody doubts. City want him to become their Alex Ferguson, the one who puts the foundation for the future of the club,” saidBalague. Guardiola has won two league titles with Bayern Munich since joining the club in 2013.
