Bayern Munich might have failed to register a win playing versus Shakhtar Donetsk the other day at Arena Lviv, but, that has not put their Final Eight qualification in the Champions League in doubt by any means.

Playing the return leg at home, it’s almost a no brainer that they would beat Shakhtar and move ahead to face the big boys.

But, what Pep Guardiola would need is to ensure that his players turn up.

During that away leg in Ukraine, it appeared as if the Bayern players were not completely awake.

Normally, you expect Bayern boys to be completely charged up leading to a big game and cashing in on the mistakes of the opposition, but, that was probably missing in the last weekend’s game.

Knowing Guardiola as a manager, one can say that he would not have let that performance go taking it as an off day. He would definitely have had a little bit of a chat with the team about the lack of intensity.

The Bundesliga game that Bayern played thereafter against Paderborn 07 the day before yesterday, they won it by a margin of as many as 6 goals. So, the form seems alright.

Well, you might think that Shakhtar is a tougher proposition than some of the Bundesliga sides and that is not wrong. They are tougher than Paderborn for sure, but, still, you back Bayern to beat them 99 out of 100 times in any conditions.

So, barring any miracle, Bayern should be there in the quarters of the European Cup. In fact, if they blaze on all cylinders, it might well be a thrashing handed to Shakhtar at Allianz Arena the coming month.
