Netherlands winger Arjen Robben has acknowledged that he may never play for Bayern Munich again with a calf injury likely to sideline him for the rest of the season. The veteran has been with the Bavarian giants for the past decade, but it appears that he may not make a final bow before his contract expires in the summer.

Speaking to reporters, the 35-year-old said that he is unsure over a suitable return date from the latest injury and admitted that he may not get a fitting farewell with the Bundesliga holders, he told: “I have my concerns, and I am not sure if I can play for Bayern again this season. It is frustrating to not know what the problem is.”

Robben was initially sidelined with a thigh problem at the turn of the year but he was expected to return before the club’s participation in the Champions League knockouts. However, he suffered another setback after picking up a calf injury and this has ruled him out of action without a definite date to make a comeback.

Meanwhile, “the veteran has been linked with moves to the MLS and Serie A over the past few weeks“ and when asked about the same, Robben stressed that he is focused on the fitness at the current point of time, he added: “Of course I have had a few calls, but at the moment I just want to make sure I am training again over a “long period of time“.”

Bayern recently jumped one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund on the table after a stunning 5-0 triumph against them at the Allianz Arena. Next up, they have an away game against Fortuna, and manager Niko Kovac will be hoping that the team can avoid any complacency, considering they had dropped points during the previous away trip against Freiburg.
