BAYERN STUN SCHALKE

Bayern Munich recently managed a 4-0 win over Schalke in a very good team performance. This has earned the praise of manager Guardiola, who has rated this match as the best Bayern Munich have played since his arrival.

Bastian Schweinsteiger opened the scoring for Bayern Munich before striker Mario Mandzukic doubled their advantage. Bayern Munich then increased the advantage with goals from Franck Ribery and Claudio Pizarro to go top of the table. They had recently lost the advantage to Borussia Dortmund, but their main rivals could only draw earlier in the day.

Guardiola has been criticised for trying to change the perfect Bayern Munich team that has won three major titles only last season, but he has struck with the changes done to the start of the season. It is starting to pay off according to the former Barcelona manager, who has won numerous titles in the last five years. He was approached by several big clubs including Chelsea and Manchester city, but he chose to sign from Bayern Munich. The 42-year-old has said that in other matches his team has been playing this way only for 30 or 40 minutes. This is the first time they have played consistently the way he wants them to play for 90 minutes.

"That was our best Bundesliga performance of the season so far. I’m satisfied and proud of this performance and my players. In other games we only played well for 30 or 45 minutes, but this time we did very well over 90 minutes. We totally dominated one of the strongest teams in Germany," said the manager. "We took it very seriously from the start, our mentality was right. We were determined to take all three points. It’s not easy to come here and win, so we’re doubly delighted about doing just that," said Schweinsteiger.
